Advocacy Day 2018

The Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force would like to thank all of this year's Advocacy Day participants. We are pleased to announce that your hard work paid off! In June, the Illinois General Assembly passed a budget, signed by Governor Bruce Rauner, that includes $13.5 million in state general revenue for the Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP).

Advocacy Day is on Tuesday, May 22 this year. Registration is now closed. We can't wait to see you in Springfield!

Thank you to everyone who dialed in for the Pre-Adovacay Day Training Call. For those of you that missed it, you can listen here: Prep Call Recording. This call covers the Advocacy Day agenda, breaks down our "asks" into more detail, and provides some tips on how to engage with legislators and how to prepare over the next few days.

Bus Information can be found here: Bus List
Advocacy Day groups and representative information can be found here: Advocacy Day Groups 2018

Join us on our trip to Springfield, as we advocate for:
1) IBCCP funding
2) Implementation of the BEST Act
3) Reinstatement of the statewide mammography quality program

More detailed information about this year's asks can be found here: Legislator Asks

Transportation to\from Springfield will be provided. Please note the bus departure information for your chosen pick up site. Buses will depart promptly. Please note that buses are not wheelchair accessible.

This will be a long, but fun day. Please wear comfortable shoes as there will be extended periods of time standing and walking around the Capitol Building as we meet with our elected officials. Lunch will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your favorite snack along for the ride.
