Mammography Quality Initiative

The Chicago Breast Cancer Quality Consortium plans to launch its 2018 Quality Data Collection and Environmental Scan projects in summer 2018. Both projects are intended to provide participating facilities with useful information about the landscape of breast cancer screening and care processes within the Chicagoland area.

2018 Quality Data Collection: The Chicago Breast Cancer Quality Consortium has collected five rounds of quality screening and capacity metrics since 2009. The first three cycles focused on Chicago and then the metropolitan area, while the 2014 and 2016 data collection expanded to include hospitals throughout the state.  In the statewide initiative, 150 facilities participated and received individualized reports benchmarking their mammography quality.  The Consortium is now preparing to relaunch city-wide quality and capacity projects in order to document, and ultimately, to improve the quality of breast care for all women our city.

How can your facility participate?

You should be receiving information from the Consortium over the coming weeks and months. If you would like additional information, please contact us at . A data sharing agreement is necessary for this project and as such, Consortium staff will be reaching out to the appropriate facility administrators to confirm participation.

Environmental Scan: The Environmental Scan is a Polk Bros.-funded projected intended to assess the breast cancer care processes in a post-ACA Chicago. Project tools were refined earlier this year, with input from focus groups at several Chicagoland breast care facilities.

Quality Project Engagement: At the moment, the Consortium is working to rebuild its participant database. If you or another member of your mammography facility is interested in receiving more information about these projects, we ask that you contact the Consortium at
