This month, the Task force received a $150,000 grant from The Chicago Community Trust to support a new primary care initiative. This exciting project will take place on the eve of The Affordable Care Act’s health insurance coverage expansions and will work with primary care providers who serve Medicaid patients. Recent research suggests that a woman is more likely to get a mammogram when her primary care provider suggests that she do so. However, Chicago has the lowest mammography screening rate in the country for women served by Medicare and an even lower screening rate for those served by Medicaid. Therefore, our goal is to improve access to quality mammography by improving primary care patient interactions and the mammogram screening referral process. We want to offer a sincere thank you to the Trust for supporting our work! To learn more about the Trust, please visit www.cct.org.
