Community Outreach & Education

Community Outreach is the Task Force's vehicle for "Responsiveness" to the healthcare needs of the community. It recognizes that it can only be responsive if it is actively involved with community organizations and links the Task Force initiatives and recommendations to the community and the community's needs to the Taskforce.

The purpose of the outreach and education activities is to educate community organizations and healthcare organizations about MCBCTF and educate the community about the breast cancer health disparity in the Metropolitan Chicago area.

MCBCTF also serves as an "umbrella advisory" for community health providers and organizations. As an umbrella organization the Outreach component will help assure effective use of resources, work to build a community consensus to mobilize and respond to breast health issues and establishing public/private partnerships.

Community outreach will provide the collaborative forum to discuss and determine "best practices" in outreach and education among community agencies. The Task Force community outreach arm will help identify issues in the community that can be addressed by the Task Force, provides professional development opportunities for organizations, help garner resources for programs and assist with advocacy efforts.
