Teena Francois joined the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force in April 2013 as the Clinical Data Specialist. She has extensive experience in breast cancer epidemiology, disparities research and evaluation of breast and cervical cancer prevention initiatives.

Prior to joining the Task Force, Ms. François was an epidemiologist with the Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) from 2005 and 2010. During that time, she conducted multilevel epidemiologic studies of racial and economic health disparities across Chicago. She was responsible for evaluating the Stand Against Cancer program. In 2007, Ms. Francois became a Breast Health Supervisor for the Helping Her Live Breast Cancer Prevention program. In this role, she developed outreach navigation strategies and tailored case management protocols to increase access to screening for African American and Hispanic uninsured women. Lastly, she was a member of the coordinating committee that established the MCBCTF and published the Improving Quality and Reducing Disparities in Breast Cancer Mortality in Metropolitan Chicago Report.

In addition to her work in breast cancer epidemiology, Teena was a contracted epidemiologist and evaluator for the National Center of Immunization and Respiratory Diseases. In this role, she provided technical assistance to state personnel to improve their processes of assessment of kindergarten vaccination coverage. She also supported the Georgia Department of Public Health MCH program, the Early Intervention Institute and the Louisiana Department of Public Health in the development, implementation and evaluation of state initiatives for children and youth with special health care needs.

Since joining the Task Force, Ms. Francois has recently transitioned into a new role. As Associate Director of Community Health Initiatives and Research, Teena is charged with leading the Task Force's efforts in developing collaborative sustainable evidenced-based initiatives that empower women with the tools to maintain their health and access quality breast health care.
